Dollars and $ense at Skowhegan
JMG recently partnered with Skowhegan Savings Bank to offer a financial literacy fair to the senior class at Skowhegan Area High School, where students were assigned real careers and salaries and had to make budgeting choices based on those salaries. JMG / Portland Schools awarded $5 million Nellie Mae grant
The Nellie Mae Education Foundation has awarded the partnership of JMG, Portland Public Schools, LearningWorks, and the City of Portland's Refugee Services Program a $5 million grant to design student-centered pathway systems that will better meet the needs of all students in Portland's four public high schools! The Nellie Mae Education Foundation has awarded a three-year, $5 million grant to support a partnership between the Portland Public Schools and several community-based organizations (including JMG) to better meet the needs of all students in Portland's public high schools. Biddeford JMG students educate peers about dating violence
JMG students at Biddeford High School joined forces with their classmate, Kathryn Sovetsky, who's sister, Kelly Winslow, was a victim of domestic violence, to educate their peers about the dangers of teen dating violence. Read about their efforts here.

Northern Penobscot Tech. JMG gearing up for JOY
Betty Vose's JMG students at Northern Penobscot Tech. in Lincoln are kicking off their Jumpstart Our Youth (JOY) philanthropy project by seeking potential grantees. They are also attempting to match the $1,000 given to them by the Unity Foundation to give away as a JOY grant by doing additional fundraising. Read more about their efforts here.
