Jobs for Maine's Graduates

Community Service

JMG: Where Maine communities become the classroom.

Community service is an important part of what JMG is all about. By getting involved in local projects, students develop a bond with the people, groups, and organizations right in their own communities. Students learn leadership, teamwork, and communication skills they will use long after they've graduated. Students plan fundraisers for charities like the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and local food pantries. Students also volunteer at nursing homes, hold blood drives and toy drives, and tend community vegetable gardens.

During the 2011-2012 school year, JMG students completed nearly 24,000 documented hours of community service.

Being given the opportunity to improve lives and promote worthy causes has a clear impact on our students' self-esteem.
