JMG's 2021 College Scholarship Sponsors

JMG is proud of this year's college scholarship winners and grateful to the following sponsors for believing and investing in Maine students.

The Zelda Gale Scholarship upholds the beliefs and values of Zelda Gale, a leader within the field of education who believed in students of promise. In her lifetime, Ms. Gale helped hundreds of young people discover their talents, gain confidence, identify their aspirations and successfully attain a college education. Ms. Gale was passionate about ensuring students had the opportunity and the support needed to overcome their barriers and reach their fullest potential. Her namesake scholarship provides much needed financial support - aligned with a broad range of support services through JMG's College Success program - to economically and education disadvantaged students.

Since 1889, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce has been working to promote a positive business climate in Maine, making it possible for Maine businesses to compete successfully in local, regional, national and international marketplaces. Their membership is made up of a network of approximately 5,000 businesses across Maine. The State Chamber understands the importance that education plays in our economic growth and social health and feels that it takes a whole community to support and ensure the success of our youth. The Maine State Chamber is proud to join JMG in providing a scholarship fund for graduating JMG students. Such scholarships help ease the cost of college. More importantly, these scholarships encourage Maine’s students to reach their potential and to become contributing members of Maine’s economy.

Tambrands, a Procter & Gamble, Co., has a long history of giving back to our community through funding, volunteer and product support. As a company and as an army of volunteers, P&G provides critical funding and its employees provide thousands of hours of community service support to communities around the globe. In 2013, P&G chose to start a college scholarship to benefit JMG students pursuing a post-secondary credential. By partnering with JMG, Tambrands and its employees are confident we’re making a smart and effective investment in Maine’s future.

Giving back and making a difference in Maine is at the core of our culture at Machias Savings Bank.  We recognize that JMG students are devoting time to the community, overcoming barriers to success, and looking forward to their post high school education.  We realize the future to the state we call home will be made by these difference makers and it is something we want to reward.

Andrew graduated from Carrabec High School in June 2008, where he was a member of the Willpower Weightlifting program, played basketball and baseball. He also served as president of the Jobs for Maine Graduates. Being a member of JMG and being honorable meant a lot to Andrew.   In March of 2008 Andrew enlisted in the US Army. He was killed in action in November 2010 while serving his country in Afghanistan. Because of his proud involvement in JMG, the family of Andrew Hutchins created a scholarship in his memory for all Maine JMG students.
