JMG Pathways Initiative at Portland Public Schools

The Pathways to Success initiative is a long-term collaboration established in 2010, and supported by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation, between JMG and Portland Public Schools designed to develop and implement student-centered practices, provide robust professional development for teachers and leaders, and engage parents, businesses, and the community in educating the city’s children.

JMG plays a key role in this work, serving as both fiscal agent and the lead resource support organization. JMG employees embedded at Deering High School and Portland High School coordinate extended learning opportunities, such as internships and job shadows, and work closely with school staff to increase student engagement. A JMG facilitator based in PPS Central Office coordinates communication, collaboration and logistics among the three high schools, district administration, JMG, and a variety of other stakeholders.
