Best Program in the Nation
JMG has been named the "Best Program in the Nation" by Jobs for America's Graduates for exceeding national outcome standards for 22 consecutive years.
Community Service Kenney Award winner for 2017
JMG was presented with the Kennebec Valley Chamber's Community Service Award in recognition of the many hours of service our students provide to charities throughout central Maine. For the very first time, the winner was chosen in a live vote by 700 guests at the Chamber's annual gala.
Friend of Youth in Care Award for Leadership in Improving the Lives of Youth in Foster Care
JMG was recognized by YLAT for making a commitment to, advocating for, leading on behalf of, and being a positive role model for youth in care.
Education Leadership Award
The Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education awarded JMG the Weston L. Bonney Education Leadership Award. The award is presented to those who show "commitment, vision and courage in support of Maine students."
Best Places to Work in Maine
JMG was recognized as one of 40 Best Places to Work in Maine for 2010 by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Best Companies Group, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, Employment Times/MyJobWave.com, and Mainebiz.
Community Spirit Award
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine presented JMG with the Brendan Batson Community Spirit Award in recognition of all the JMG students who have contributed to the Foundation's cause over the years.
JMG was honored to receive the Giraffe Award from the Maine Children's Alliance for "sticking its neck out" for Maine's children, youth, and families.
Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy for Maine
The students of JMG were awarded Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy for Maine by the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Northern New England, recognizing the students' commitment to their communities through financial support and development of charitable programs.
Champion of Economic Development
JMG was named a "Champion of Economic Development" by the Maine Development Foundation for its commitment to Maine's economic growth.
Maria Morris – Dr. Patricia Ames Distinguished Teacher Award
Maria Morris, the JMG Specialist at Morse High School, was awarded the Dr. Patricia Ames Distinguished Teacher Award for 2016 by Morse. The award is in recognition of Maria's ability to teach students to be open to new experiences, to care for others, and to act from conviction.
Skip Bessey – JAG Peak Performance Award
Skip Bessey, the JMG Specialist at Messalonskee High School, was awarded a Peak Performance Award by Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) during the 2016 National Training Seminar in Orlando, Florida. The award was for “Fully implementing the JAG model and achieving extraordinary outcomes for JAG program participants.”
Scott Browning and Tom Hart, Jr. - Maine Educators' Hall of Fame Starting 9 Inductees
Scott Browning, the JMG Specialist at Oceanside High School, and Tom Hart, Jr., the JMG Specialist at Belfast Area High School, were both selected as Maine Educators Hall of Fame Starting 9 Inductees for 2016. Sponsored by Unum and the Portland Seadogs, this award recognizes nine teachers each year for their extraordinary efforts in the classroom.
Jeremy Porter – Spirit of America Award
Jeremy Porter, the JMG Specialist at Hall-Dale High School, was presented the 2016 Spirit of America Award for the Town of Farmingdale. The Spirit of America Awards are given out each year in 100+ Maine municipalities to individuals who have contributed to their communities through volunteerism.
Jake Marcoux – Spirit of America Award
Jake Marcoux, who is now the JMG College and Career Transition Specialist at the University of Maine at Augusta, was presented the 2015 Spirit of America Award along with his JMG students at Lawrence High School, for the Town of Fairfield. The Spirit of America Awards are given out each year in 100+ Maine municipalities to individuals who have contributed to their communities through volunteerism.
Chad Larrabee – 2012 recipient, Maine Educators' Hall of Fame Starting 9 Inductee
Chad Larrabee, the JMG Middle School Specialist at Mount View Middle School in Thorndike, was selected as a Maine Educators Hall of Fame Starting 9 Inductees for 2012. Sponsored by Unum, the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education, and the Portland Sea Dogs, this award is intended to recognize, honor and celebrate the good work of Maine teachers who are preparing Maine students for the future.
Barbara Jewett and Maria Morris – Maine Educators' Hall of Fame Starting 6 Inductees
Barbara Jewett, JMG Specialist at Spruce Mountain High School in Jay, and Maria Morris, JMG Specialist at Morse High School in Bath, were both selected as Maine Educators Hall of Fame Starting 6 Inductees for 2012. Sponsored by Unum and the Portland Pirates, this award recognizes teachers who represent excellence in the educational profession.
