JMG Partnership Opportunities

JMG relies on and is grateful for the financial, volunteer, and resource support we receive year-round from businesses, foundations, and individual donors. Our supporters are instrumental in ensuring JMG can continue to provide a continuum of support to 12,000+ Maine students annually and help fuel their future success.

Partner Voices

Harold Alfond Foundation - The Foundation hears from many of our education partners on the front lines that the social, emotional, and financial barriers facing today’s young people are numerous and increasingly complex, threatening to derail even the most resilient students. To help address these challenges, the Foundation has partnered with JMG. In 2014, with Harold Alfond Foundation support and in partnership with Thomas College, JMG launched the College Success program. Early outcomes captured the attention of Maine’s legislature, and in 2016, Public Law 466 mandated JMG as a partner of the community college and university system.

Unum - Unum began its partnership with JMG over 20 years ago. It was the first organization to give a six-figure gift to JMG and has since then invested more than $2 million. “JMG is an organization that is student-centered and results-driven, and offers solutions to students to ensure they graduate from high school and attain higher education that will help them pursue meaningful careers,” said Cary Olson Cartwright, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Unum. “Unum’s philosophy of our charitable giving is to go beyond the checkbook. This support with JMG is an example of how to build an education and business partnership.”

Full Plates Full Potential (FPFP) - “Food insecurity among students in Maine has increased significantly since the start of the pandemic. Upwards of 100,000 Maine kids aren’t getting enough food at home,” said Justin Strasburger, executive director of Full Plates Full Potential, a coalition of community leaders and advocates working to end childhood hunger in Maine. “That is a huge number, and too many of them either don’t know about the meal programs available at their schools or, for one reason or another, are unable to access them. By teaming up with JMG, we hope to reach those students and break down the barriers that are preventing them from participating in these meal programs.”

Avangrid Foundation - The Avangrid Foundation is proud to deepen a demonstrated commitment to Maine’s workforce and economy, which has resulted in thousands of young people, who were once marginalized, receiving the opportunities, guidance, skills, and experience all young people need to be successful in careers, in their communities, and in their personal lives through JMG.

Our Students Succeed Because of Your Support

You can have a stake in the success of Maine students

JMG inspires and motivates students through a variety of adventure-based and experiential learning activities that use the real world as a classroom. By connecting students to employers and community-based organizations outside of school, students begin to see life through a different lens. Students learn and are able to demonstrate leadership, decision-making, and team-building skills. They learn to take risks and to succeed in environments free from the day-to-day social constraints of school. They begin working in teams and gain insights into the value of their contributions. For JMG students, these experiences often become touchstones for personal growth, as well as motivators for learning.

JMG’s success is dependent on the involvement of hundreds of stakeholders and rests upon the strong foundation of an unwavering commitment to our core student centered values. Involvement can be a financial investment or time investment. Partners help provide everything from financial investments to support our students, to job shadowing and internship opportunities, as well as facility tours. They come into the classroom and talk with the students about what it takes to succeed in the workforce. Our network of business and community leaders directly connects our students with life after high school – keeping them inspired and engaged. Please join us in supporting the futures of Maine's students.
